Welcome to Lithuania

A little funny video I found. Enjoy!

He is in love

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 10/27/2006

with his pacifiers! Lukas only gets his soske (as we call it in Lithuanian) for nap times, and in the morning when he comes to my bed, so that I could sleep in longer. And then sometimes during the day, if he is really out of control and whining I’ll give him one, or sometimes he will find them somewhere. And so today he was walking around with one in his mouth and one in his hand, next thing I know he has them both in his mouth and is all smilling at me!

Its windy again

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 10/26/2006

Ah, I hate the wind! It just makes everything so messy, and dusty, and just yucky! I used to hate rain, but now I think I would prefer to have rain than be windy. You can’t even go out with a nice hair do, it will be all messed up. Ah, I just really really hate the wind!

Its MINE!!!

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 10/24/2006

Where do these little gets get that? Few days ago Lukas started saying MINE! He’ll show a toy to Ava and say mine. I really don’t like him saying that. I don’t use that word. Viktor doesn’t. He is not in daycare. Does not hang out around other kids that much. Could it be the TV?

Not eating, but pooping

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 10/24/2006

Yup, Lukas gave up eating for playing and getting into trouble. Its been months now since he stopped eating! I mean, if I don’t offer him anything, he won’t eat. Once in a while he’ll ask for something, but only have few bites and thats it. Like today, so far he had 4 spoons of cereal for breakfast, 5 bites of bread with pumpkin butter on for lunch (that was the only thing that he would eat) and would not take nything else. And now he is busy playing with his cars. And so we’ll see what he will have for dinner.

At least he is drinking his milk. He will have 3-4 8oz cups of whole milk a day. The reason for the whole milk is that this way he does get some calories, plus I think it tastes a lot better than 2%. Then he will have some water mixed with juice.

And then he poops at least twice a day. And from what? Could it be the milk? I really don’t think he is eating enough to be pooping.

At least before he used to eat a lot of vegetables and fruit. He used to be our vegitarian boy. And now if he has a banana, I’m so happy! Or half of apple, or a few grapes, or even a few green beans, oh, that makes my day because my son ate something!

Recently I started making him smoothies, as we call it its jamba juice. He LOVES Jamba Juice. I’ll just mix a banana, some strawberries, protein powder with some milk, and he is happy! So thats another way of getting something into him. And as soon as he sees me putting things into the Magic Bullet he screams out – JAJA!

We finally got it!

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 10/24/2006

Yup! We finally got the stove! Yay!

We ended up going back to Lowe’s. And they did have the one we wanted it the first time we went there. I think the guy last time, was too lazy to check for sure. And they got it delivered already, too. Now I can start cooking again! Although that could be a bad thing. Viktor already requested for some dinner tonight.

At least I can start baking some goodies, like cookies. And since the weather is getting cooler, the new stove will help to warm up the house, too.

Carl’s Jr. = Twinkle

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 10/21/2006

So there is this hamburger place called Carl’s Jr. And now it has a new name in our household – Twinkle or Kinkle in Lukas’s language. Every time we drive pass the place, Lukas screams out KINKLE!!! No, Lukas, its a star. Lukas again, KINKLE!!!

So you wonder where he got a word kinkle for a star? Yes, we do sometimes sing to him:

twinkle, twinkle little star

how I wonder where you are…

(and you know the rest)

But no, thats not where he got the kinkle. You see, we have this dvd called The Weels on the Bus. And one of the episodes are: Twinkle Twinle Little Star. And the stars name is Twinkle. And thats where he got the name Kinkle for a star.

Anytime and everywhere Lukas sees a star, he calls it KINKLE.

Second attempt at Pumpkin Patch

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 10/21/2006

Today it was a second time that we got ready to go to a pumpkin patch. It is because the first time we went, camera battery died shortly after we got there. You can read about it here.

As we were walking out the door, I remembered – the camera! Thank God we didn’t forget it.

This time we didn’t get to see as much since we got there a little later. And shortly after we got there, a guy driving down on a tractor announced, that they will be closing in 15 minutes.

Lukas wasn’t participating at picture taking at all. Most of the pictures we got with him in it, he was looking somewhere else but the camera. He also had a hard time listening to us as he was wondering around, looking and trying to pick up all the pumpkins. Ava did a lot better, she was just sitting and smilling away!

Lukas didn’t even get to see the mooing cow. I’m sure he missed her! :)

On the way out we picked up a pumpkin, and Lukas insisted to pick one up too. He took a little one and would not let go of it. And so today we got home with pictures and two pumpkins.

Homemade baby food

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 10/19/2006

My baby girl is getting big! She is all ready for the baby food. Well she has started some simple stuff, like: Rice cereal, she’s been eating it since October 1st; then we started Oatmeal cereal on October 15th; also her first fruit was a banana started on October 9th.

not really sure about the rice cereal yet

now liking it much better

yep, thats banana coming out of my mouth

I really liked the banana

So today I thought its time to start something new – apple. I did not make baby food for Lukas, don’t even know why, but he was a Gerber Baby! And so I got so excited about making her some apple sauce! First I steamed the apple, then purreed it. Of course at first Ava gave this weird look like “what the hell is this”, but after a few spoons she gobbled it all down.

Anyway, this time around I decided to make my own baby food. Don’t ask why! Not that I have more time or anything. I just thought it would be neat to try and do something I’ve never done before, plus, maybe its better?

And now I’m looking forward of making either sweet potatoe or squash.
