They know nothing!

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 05/16/2007

So my hair straightener is dieing. One of the plates started pealing and it started pulling my hair. At first it was not a big deal, but the more it pealed the more it started pulling my hair. I guess they would get stuck in there or something. The surface wasn’t smooth anymore. Anyway, I went to Sally’s to get a new one (my friendgot me that one for my b-day couple of years ago, and I really liked it (well until it started pulling my hair) so I want to get the same one, even if its going to last me two years, for $60 I think its still worth it). So I go to Sallys, look at all the straighteners they have, and of course they don’t have that one. They are all out. Does that mean that’s a good one for the price? So I asked the lady that works there, what they would recommend. She tells me some name (sorry, don’t remember). She starts looking for it and she points to the curling iron and says “that’s a really good one”. HELLOOOOOO!!!!! Lady!!! I’m NOT looking for curling, I’m looking for straightening!! Of course I told her that in a much nicer way. :) Then she stands back, looking at the shelf and at all the straightening irons they have, and there were at least 15 of them there, and walks over to the thickest one they have. Ok, I told her at the beginning that I’m looking for the skinniest one, which is probably no more than 1 inch. So I tell her again that I don’t want a thick one, and she just seems lost. It looked like she knew nothing about them. Just mumbling something than I can’t really hear nor understand. Anyway, I thanked her and left the store.

I just don’t understand how can people work somewhere and know nothing about their stuff. I mean, you don’t have to really know then know them, but at least something. It’s not like I was asking her how to fix a plumbing problem or something. And ok, if you really don’t know anything about them, then ask someone else to help you. Instead of just waisting my time. Argh!! At least she told me they got a shipment in today and will be restocking things tomorrow, I guess I could go back in a day or two and see if they have one then. That’s if I can wait that long.

New teeth, new hair — I’m ready!

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 05/15/2007

Well, not really, but at least I will look half ways descent. If only I would’ve lost those remaining pounds that are just holding on to me. You’ve already heard my teeth story or stories. And well today I got my hair done. Some more highlights, more red, a little trim, and it’s a new me. My roots were already so long. I think last time I did anything with my hair was somewhere around September. A loooooong time ago. And I’m very happy how it turned out. The pictures will be up in a day or two.

Other than that, I’m so not ready for my trip. Seriously! At least I have all the suitcases (sp) now. This weekend I will start throwing some stuff in and we’ll go from there. Oh and I need to finish my shopping list. If I could only find what I’m looking for.

Oh, and I also got me glasses. But they will only be ready after I’m gone. So Hubby will mail them to me and when I get a chance I will post some pics.

Happy Mother’s Day!

I know it’s already the end of the day, but just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Mother’s Day!

A quick update

Posted in Family, kids by Ilma on the 05/13/2007

Well, lets see…….where do I begin…….hhmmmmm….my teeth. Yes I already got the permanent ones last Thursday. After I got home and looked in the mirror I almost started crying. Not a happy crying. Crying that I did not like the teeth!! And then after the numbing went away, I did cry. :( It just feels all weird, and they seem to be bigger, and longer, and one seems to be higher than the other, and they just don’t feel right. Oh and I can also feel everything with them. I couldfeel breathing in the air, and forget about drinking anything. They’re so sensitive!! I can’t even drink water that is room temperature. So I went back in to the dentist that same night, they put some sensitizer or something like that on. That did help a little, but they’re still sensitive. ~~~~~~~~~>>> forward to today…… the sensitivity is still there, but a lot better than it was. They still feel a little bigger than what I was used to, but maybe because what I had before was too small, and I just got used to them being smaller than the regular size. *shrug* The only thing that I really like about them is the color! It matches my teeth perfectly!! You can’t even tell the difference. I have another appt this Wednesday, so I will update you all then. Oh and I will also post some before and after pictures.

Ava is doing wonderful! She took 6 steps today, all on her own! Six steps! She’s been taking one small step here and there since about May 1st, and in the last few days she took 2-3 small steps a couple of times. Hopefully she’ll start walking more before we leave, so that Daddy gets to see his little girl walk. And I’m really looking forward to her mastering her new, very big, milestone. Also last Friday (the 11th) she got her 1st bottom tooth in! Now there is a total of 4.

And Lukas surprised us with a summer sault this evening. We were all sitting in his room and just having fun with our kids, and Lukas gets off of his bed where he was jumping seemed like forever, bends down, puts his head on the floor and just rolls forward. Viktor and I were in shock. No one has ever tought him how to do this, and I don’t even think he has seen it anywhere. I guess he just thought that would be something fun to try. It was really cool to see him do that! He kept doing it over and over and over for the next half an hour.

And I’ve been so busy getting ready for my trip. I really thought it would be a lot easier. And the hardest part is finding clothes for me. Especially pants. I’ve got a few pairs of jeans, and capris now (still deciding on some of them), but dress pants?! It seems that they don’t even exist! And if they do somewhere, then of course they’re too short. And the one place that I did found a decent looking pair, they had some stupid pockets on the sides that kept sticking out and making but hips look huge! I’m not looking for anything fancy, just a regular black, gray, or brown pair of dress pants with NO pockets! I guess I still have a week left and a few more stores to hit, so wish me luck!

Off to bed now. Goodnight!

Oh, and in the weight department, I’mjust not doing good at all. :(  Wait, let me rephrase that, I’m doing good or at least am trying very hard to do good, but my body is not participating.

They just don’t nap long enough

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 05/06/2007

Lukas has always been a not so good napper. He only naps for one hour 1 time a day, sometimes even less. And Ava used to be a good napper. Just not too long ago she used to nap for about 2-3 hours for her first nap, and then 30-60 minutes for the second one. But that second one would sometimes only last 15 minutes, so I thought that she might be ready for only one nap a day. So I just keep her up a little longer and put them both down at the same time. And now she only naps 1 hour too! What the heck?! I was expecting to at least get a minimum of 2 hour nap from her. Even if it’s only once a day.

That one hour nap that she’s taking is not enough for her. Because every time when we go out in the afternoons/evenings, she always falls asleep in the car. And if not then at home about 1 hour or so before her bed she would get soooo cranky. Then I end up putting her down, but then after about 15-20 minutes she is up and ready to play. Which that extends her bedtime. And if I try putting her earlier, she would not fall asleep. She would just cry and cry and cry in the crib, until we go and get her.

I’m really confused with all her napping thing. And if I could only make Lukas sleep just a half hour longer…ahhhhh.

It was in the 90’s!

Posted in kids by Ilma on the 05/06/2007

It was supposed to be in the 80’s today, so we planned on taking the kids to the park first, and then hitting some stores. Well when we got up, it was very warm outside, but there was also very windy. So Viktor was saying that maybe we should just stay in, don’t want to get the kids sick before our trip. Yes, that is true, but they need to get out of the house. I need to get out of the house. And so we got ready and left.

When we got to the park, it felt like it was in the 90’s and not 80’s, and it probably was. Even though it was a little windy, it wasn’t too bad. We had a scooter for Lukas, thinking that he would love to ride it at the park, but nope! (as Lukas would say it) He was just pushing it. And then instead of playing at the playground, swinging, going down the slides, climbing the lathers (sp?), or just running around, Lukas decided just to hang out around us at the bench and snack on some food and drink a whole bunch of juice and water. While I was happy that he was snacking and drinking, but he can do that at home, not at the park where there is a ton of things to play with. But at least he wasn’t running away from us.

Shopping, shopping…

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 05/05/2007

and more shopping! That’s what I did today. It was just me and a friend. Viktor stayed home with the kids. We were gone for 7 hours! We went everywhere, well, almost everywhere. ;)   We hit the mall, then had a very good lunch at Chipotle (I had a Fajita Bol, it was sooo good!), then went to CVS, then to everybody’s favorite place – Target, and then to Bed Bath & Beyond. And it was around 8 pm when I got home. It felt so nice to shop with out husband and/or the kids. Mean, but true! It was just nice to take my time and look at things, touch them, try them on, etc. And then not to be in a hurry when walking down the isle.

But when i got home it was a whole other story. The house was upside down, the beds were peed in, and you could find anything and everything on the floor. But the kids were taken care of and that’s all that matters. Oh and the dishes were done, which is a big plus!

It is a new month

Posted in Uncategorized by Ilma on the 05/01/2007

Since I was very slow on blogging last month, I will try and change that this month. I will try and blog at least a few times per week, hopefully every day, even if my entries are gonna be short and maybe even boring. I just want to get into that habbit again. And sometimes it just feels nice to have your thoughts/feelings on a black and white. Have to make this really short as the kids are waking up.

Talk to you all soon! ;)
