Firestation
We got to go on a tour at one of the local firestations today. One of the Mommy’s organized it from our playgroup. It was so fun to see everything up close! We got to walk through a building into the back where there were firestrucks. Kids had so much fun running around and exploring everything. Although L was pretty shy. He didn’t sit in the truck, didn’t go up close to the fireman who was dressed in their fire fighting uniform. But he was exploring the truck from the outside.
A on the other hand did all of it! She even had a fireman hat on. Brave little girl!
Just because…
Nothing really interesting to say today. Got to sleep in (thank you hubby!!). And then got to go out with a friend (again thank you hubby!!). I needed to get some stuff for the kids, so we hit a couple malls. Mostly we checked out kids stores and I was surprised how much more expensive things are now then they were a year ago. Yikes!! For example, at Baby Gap they used to have very good sales where I would find shirts for $5! You can’t beat that! Today the cheapest shirt I saw was $8.99. Not that much more expensive, but it will add up a lot faster. Maybe it was the store I went in to, they did remodeled the store and the mole not too long ago, so maybe that’s why I raised the prices? Or maybe I just wasn’t able to find the good stuff? I hope they do have those good sales again!
My friends birthday is coming up and we have this tradition that every year for her b-day we go to Maria’s. They have the best lasagna I’ve ever had! So before the malls, we made a little stop there. It was so nice!! There are a few of them around here and today we tried a new location. It was very good!! The waiter was coming to check up on us every few minutes. I’m not kidding! I was like can we just eat?! Of course I didn’t say that, but thought about it a few times. But I guess it’s better when they keep coming and checking instead of you’re just sitting there with an empthy water glass and the waiter is nowhere to be find. Anyway, it was a good day.
A banana guard ??
I was looking at some Flickr photos and I laughed out loud once I saw this. In a million years, I would’ve never thought of such a thing. I guess it is good for carrying around in the bag/purse, so your banana won’t get squished and bruised all over. But I don’t know! What’s next?
This on the other hand would be pretty cool. Or this, and this, or even this.
And are you using too much toilet paper?
There are so many more cool and not so cool things on there. Look around when you get some free time. It will give you a good laugh!
Digital SLR Camera users
How did you decide on what camera to get?
I’ve been looking into getting one and having a hard time deciding. Of course it all comes down to the money. I was pretty set on the Canon XTi, but then saw that Canon is coming out with a new one – XSi. The reviews on it so far are really good. It does come with a better lens, I love the fact that it has the Live View Function (will I really use it though?). But it is more pricey then the XTi. Is it really worth the extra money??
Then there is Canon S5 IS. A lot cheaper and it also has good reviews.
Or another option would be getting XTi body only and getting 18-55 IS lens. ??
Help!!
Any info will be appreciated.
Oh, and I will mostly be using it for every day things. I have two very active toddlers, so of course they are the main reason I’m looking into DSLR. And then some time in the future I would like to get into the real world of photography.
In love with a stranger
It was LAX. The airport was packed. There were lines and lines of people checking in at every gate. Finally boarded my plane, found my seat, put my carry-on in the above compartment and sat down. I was ready. Even though I was flying alone and it was going to be a long flight – 10 hours, but I was ready.
He was flying alone too. We introduced each other (although I don’t remember his name) and started chit chatting. You either talk or sleep to make the time go by faster. We chose to talk. We became very comfortable with each other. After only a few hours of talking, we knew each other very well. It seemed like we knew each other forever.
He had short dark hair, the most beautiful blueish-greenish eyes, some facial hair. He looked perfect.
I was resting my head on his shoulder, we were hugging each other. We were in love. We started talking about us being together, getting married. Our flight was coming to an end. My vacation was going to last a couple of months. His a little longer. We knew we wouldn’t be flying back together. We also knew that we wouldn’t be able to see each other while we were there on vacation. I had my family to visit, he had his. He told me that he’ll change his return date to match mine and then we’ll fly back together. And from then we would always be together. Sounded nice, but I didn’t really believe him. After all, we just met during this flight.
Two months later. I found my seat in the plane. The seat to me was empty. It was almost time for the plane to start moving, when he walked in and headed straight to the empty seat next to me.
And then…..
and then I woke up.
Now most of the time we have dreams about someone that we know or at least have seen them in the past. Or at least in my dreams. Well not this one, I have no idea where that person came from. I’ve never seen him. Anywhere.
Chocolate kitchen anyone?
OMG!! Seriously, I have to install the door into my kitchen and put a lock on it. Why? So the kids couldn’t get in there!! Because when they are in there and I’m not looking, they got into everything. EVERYTHING!!
As I was drinking my coffee this morning and came on the computer to check my e-mails, my kitchen became chocolaty (is that even a word?) with Nesquik chocolate powder! I was only on the computer 5 minutes max, go back to the kitchen to start making breakfast and I see this:

That is Nesquik powder all over. I guess my son was desperate for some chocolate milk in the morning and tried to make it himself. Thank God there was no milk involved! Imagine that?
I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. L was sitting right in the middle of it, covered in the powder, while A was sitting a little to the side, but also had some powder on her. Picked her up and washed her feet and hands off, oh and her face, as those were the only places she had the powder on. Now L was another story! Had to carry him straight into the bathtub. He was COVERED in powder. He even had some in his hair! He had an unexpected shower.

The funny thing is, (although it wasn’t too funny at first) is that he brought a car over and was playing with it. Kind of reminded me of when he did something similar with the dirt.
It all vacuumed up very well. I was afraid it would leave the area sticky, but it didn’t.
As the day went on, I noticed there was a little more powder on the floor by the cabinets, where I already cleaned it off. I realized that some got into the cabinet where all the pots and pans and some big mixing bowls are. I open it and there is not some, but A LOT of powder in there. Too bad didn’t take a picture of it. Half of the shelves had powder on, as well as the pots and pans and bowls. Again, vacuum cleaner and the Clorox wipes came in very handy.
Now I just need a bigger kitchen, so I could put the stuff away, out of reach of the little hands.
This morning
I prepared kids breakfast this morning and they each sat in their chairs, I gave them their plates with food and they started eating. A was having a hard time picking up stuff with the fork, so I sat next to her to help her. L probably already had a few bites fo the food when I heard him saying this:
“God, watch over Mama, Daddy, Lukas and Ava. Amen” (don’t remember the exact order, but he did name all of us)
I was like WOW!! where did he learn that?! I haven’t really tought him any of the praying except for few books that we read about God. So I get on the phone to call Viktor and ask him if he tought him that. He said he’s done it a few times here and there, but it was a while ago. It was when I was gone to CO for a few days. It’s been well over a month now since I’ve been back, and the boy remembered. I’m in awwwwww!
Sick. Again. This is the first time for me this year. But still. It seems like it never ends. I think this is the worst year for us.
Just finished a cup of Theraflu Night time, waiting for it to kick in and off to bed.
Easter Egg Game
There is an Easter egg game that everyone plays on Easter day, before they start eating the eggs. I’m not sure if it is very popular out here in the states, but in Lithuania, it is not Easter without this game (or at least from where I came from).
We used to usually sit all around the table in the morning for breakfast. It used to be a late breakfast, more like a brunch thing. We’d have the colored eggs on the table along with all the other good food. Everyone picks an egg and we hold it in our hands, and one person will hit the other persons egg. Like bonk them together. One of the eggs will crack the other egg. But they will never crack both at the same time. If you were the one holding the egg, then it’s your turn to hit someone else’s. If your egg got cracked by another one, then you can turn it around and hit the other end with someone else’s egg.

The egg that doesn’t get cracked, is the strongest egg! Or if your egg has only one end that is cracked and others are both cracked, then your egg is still the strongest. You’d be surprised at how many eggs there will be that won’t crack. We’ll usually save that egg, because there is always someone who will have that second egg, then you can still use your ’strong’ egg to play the game.
I hope this all made sense!
Well yesterday, we played that game at home with the kids. They had a blast!! Of course they don’t really get the real concept of it yet, but they loved hitting their eggs together. At the end, both of their eggs were cracked all over. After L’s egg would be cracked, he’d pick another egg and continue playing the game with A’s cracked egg that she was holding on to. After L cracked the 3rd egg, we didn’t give him anymore. Why? Well because someone was supposed to eat all the cracked eggs, and since he wasn’t eating them, we didn’t want to end up with 10 cracked eggs that we would have to eat. It’s better to refrigerate them whole.
