Hanging in there
I’m still here. Haven’t really been in the mood to write anything lately. This is also our third weekend that we are spending home. Actually that I am spending home, nubby and kids did get out today.
Two weekends ago Kapitonas came down with some cold virus. Was coughing a lot and wasn’t feeling good for almost a week. Then when he was started feeling better, I though wow nobody else is going to get what he had. Well guess what?! I spoke to soon! As we were getting ready to go out for a little last Saturday, Princess started coughing and when I felt her she was warm. Took her temperature and sure enough, she had fever. So we spend a second weekend staying home.
By middle of this week she was doing better, but still had that cough. Actually both kids still have it. Nut I thought no big deal, everybody is coughing everywhere we go. So we were making some plans to go out this weekend.
Wednesday night I felt like I was coming down with something. Went to bed early, thinking that might help. Wrong! Woke up Thursday morning with a soar throat and a stuffy nose. Blah!! So I’ve been pretty much out on Thursday, Friday and today-Saturday. Today actually is the worst. My nose is so stuffy that I have a hard time breathing unless I’m sitting. Which makes it really hard to sleep. But being it Saturday and hinny home, at least I can stay in bed and rest, even if it is half ways sitting up.
Hubby took the kids out today. I think they went to the park, drove around and then McDonalds. They brought some for me too.
Anyway, just a little update on us.
Did that really work?
So you guys won’t believe this!! Kapitonas did NOT leave his bed or room last night! Woohoo!!!
Did taking his puppy the night before really helped? Did it finally clicked to him that it’s ok to fall asleep on his own? After all, he does fall asleep on his own during nap times. I just couldn’t believe it.
To tell you the truth, I was a little worried about him not coming down last night. I kept thinking what if something happened to him? Is he alright?
This has never ever ever happened in 4 years! I am very happy!
But I won’t get too excited yet. We’ll see how tonight goes.
And because he stayed in bed last night, hubby and I were able to watch 3 shows last night! Too bad it was a season finale for Big Brother. (spoiler alert!!) ………………………………………………………But I’m happy Dan won!
There it goes again
I wrote a while ago about Kapitonas not going to sleep on his own. I used to always have to lay down with him. Well after doing for 3+ years, I started getting a little tired of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to lay down and cuddle with him. But it was getting to the point where we’d be laying there for an hour and he would still be awake. I wouldn’t mind if it would be 10-15 minutes max.
Well about 4 months ago or so, maybe even 6, I stopped laying down with him and we’ve been trying to have him fall asleep on his own. And you what?! no. such.luck.!!! Argh!!!!
Every night, he comes out of his room and starts walking downstairs like 10 times. It’s really annoying!! Hubby always walks him up and puts him down, puts a blanket on him and leaves the room. A minute later there comes Kapitonas again. And so on and so on.
Hubby is a really softy when it comes to the kids. I like that, but sometimes you just have to put your foot down and tell them no! To the kids I mean.
Well last night we put the kids down and I didn’t even get downstairs, when I heard Kapitonas walking out of his room. Oh, I was so mad! I go up and tell him to go to bed. He starts whining and asking me to put a blanket on him. I told him that he has to do it himself, because we already put a blanket on him originally, and it was his choice to get out of bed. He starts crying in the bed for his blanket. I’m sitting there and telling him that he has to do it on his own. He still doesn’t do it. So I threaten him to take his puppy away(puppy is this little blankie that looks like a puppy, that’s his favorite thing) if he doesn’t put his blanket on. And what do you know, he does!! HA! It worked! Before I left the room I told him that if he leaves his room and comes down, he will loose his puppy for the night.
“No no, I don’t want to loose my puppy!” he yells.
“Well, good, then stay in bed”.
And oh about 10 minutes later I hear the little footsteps. He is coming downstairs. Yup, I took his puppy away and sent him back to bed. Yeah, yeah, I know it was mean, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
He lays back down in bed and I tell him that if he comes out again, he won’t get the puppy in the morning. If he stays in bed then he can have his puppy back in the morning when he comes to my bed. (Every morning around 6 am, he comes to my bed and falls back asleep. I don’t mind him doing that, as long as he sleeps most the night in his bed and most of all falls asleep there on his own.)
I leave the room and then it was all quiet for the night.
In the morning when I woke up, he was already sleeping next to me and holding his puppy.
We’ll see how tonight goes. Wish me luck!
I’m sure everyone who has kids, has already been through that or will go through that.
Yesterday I started cleaning out my daughters closet and I felt very very sad putting all her small clothes away. It really hit me that I don’t have a baby anymore. She is already 2. Although in my hear I’ll always have 2 babies.
I’ve already put her infant clothes away a while ago. Yesterday I went through the ones up to 18 months and 2T. Some of the 2T’s still fit her, but most of them went into a box. How sad!! I don’t think I would get a lot for them as they are all used, but little is better then none.
Now I just have to figure out what I want to do with them. Most of them are in very good shape. All the ones that had stains in and I couldn’t get it out, I threw it away. So now, do I try and sell them and get some extra cash for her new clothes, or just give it away?
Oh and before you tell me that I should hold on to them incase we have more kids, we’re not. We are done. Yeah, sure, some days I want to hold this little tiny baby who’s head fits into my palm. But other days we’re so sure we’re done. And yes, we are done. Two is more then enough for us.
So, now I need to find home for all those cute little girl outfits.
And one of these days I’ll have to do the same thing with my son’s closet.
Anyway, that’s whats been on my mind lately.
Well, last night kids bedtime went very well. We did the bedtime routine, put Princess in her bed with a cup of milk and she was out shortly. Put Kapitonas in his bed, kissed him goodnight, told him that when he wakes up in the morning, he can come to my bed. And he went right to sleep. We were shocked! After w hile of not hearing anything, hubby went upstairs to check up and they were both out. That means Kapitonas didn’t come down not even once.
Now today was another story. Nap time was just horrible. After coming downstair numerous times, having to go potty several times in about 15 minutes, he only ended up sleeping maybe a half an hour. Maybe. I think it was more like 20 min. And the reason he fell asleep is because I went in and laid down with him. Princess has already slept for about an hour when he fell asleep. I really had no choice, but to lay down with him. If he wasn’t going to take a nap, he was just going to be a little terror the rest of the day.
He is still going to his swim classes every evening so I could not let him skip a nap. Not since we were home, anyway.
Kapitonas’ swimming is going very well!! He can now jump in to the pool, go under water, hold on to the board and lay on top of the water and kick his feet, and yesterday he learned how to float on his back. His teacher told me that she let him go and he was just floating there. He thought she was still holding him, but she wasn’t. How cool is that?!
Tomorrow is his last lesson for this round. Next Monday, June 30th, another round will start up again for 9 classes and we are considering it. We just have to decide on the time we want to do it. I also really like his swim teacher, so I’ll have to ask and see if we could get her again for the next round.
Update on the sleeping arrangements.
Oh boy!! Both of the kids were asleep in one room when hubby and I went to bed. I wake up later at night because I felt someone, it was Kapitonas. Sleeping in the middle in our bed. I checked the time, it was 2 am. I don’t even know when he came in, didn’t even feel him crawl in the bed. So all 3 of up slept the rest of the night. Thank God for the Cal. King beds!!!
Also, they both woke up this morning at 7 am. What’s up with that?! Last week they were sleeping in till around 8 am. Well Kapitonas was waking up a little earlier, but Princess was sleeping in. 7 am it is too early for me! My brain doesn’t start functioning until 9. And then I still have to have a cup of coffee or two, and only then I’m ready to start my day. Agh, gotta love the kids!!
This what happens when you forget that you’re boiling some eggs:
This was going to be our breakfast. But it was early in the morning, before my coffee. So I put them on the stove, with full of water, poured a cup of coffee and sat down at the computer to see whats happening in the world. Yeah, about half an hour later, maybe even later, I walk into the kitchen and heard the eggs popping. The pot washed out very well, thank goodness!
I did enjoyed my coffee though!
Does it ever end?!
Does the laundry ever ends? I mean seriously. If I would want to, I would be doing laundry every freaking single day. But I choose not to. Instead, I just do it few times a week, few loads a day. But does it ever end? As soon as I finish those few loads, the next day there is a tons to wash again. Agh. You want to know what I’m doing today? LAUNDRY!!! Yup, and since I’ll probably be staying home most of the day today, I will probably end up doing more then a few loads. You know, the sheets, the towels, maybe even some rugs. Lucky me!
April 1st
You know what? For the first time this year, I didn’t play April’s fools joke an anyone. I just couldn’t come up with anything good. And then every time I’d talk to hubby over the phone and anything I would tell him, he’d say “april fools, ha ha ha”. I’m like no! I’m being serious! I really was!

We’re not very good about eating leftovers, we’re trying and doing a lot better then used to, but once in a while there is some food that’s just waiting to be thrown away. So tonight it was some pasta sauce and a couple of meatballs. I took everything out and hubby was dumping the stuff in the bags. But for sauce and meatballs he decided to dump it in the bag outside, so he wouldn’t splash all over the kitchen counter by accident. Before he took it outside, he took the lid off and was carrying the container with some bags outside. Right when he got by the door, the sauce and meatballs container fell out on the floor, splattering a white wall, A’s shoe, L’s shoe, part of our very light couch, and the blinds and the floor. Good thing that most of it landed on the wall and the floor, so it was a pretty easy clean up. The couch did get stained a little, but in a not very visible spot, so I guess that’s ok. Shoes got washed in the washer and they look like new! If the container would’ve fallen just a couple inches to one side, it would’ve covered the couch. Then it would’ve been another story.
