There still is hope
Since we’ll be soon heading out for the day, I thought I’d post something.
Kapitonas is feeling better today, still has a little sniffle here and there, but he is very active and being totally normal healthy boy. Which makes me wonder if he is getting some kind of allergies? It has been windy here the last couple days. Hubby gets allergies once in a while. He always gets itchy watery eyes, runny nose and sneezing when around cats. And once in a while he’ll get it from the wind. So there is a chance that Kapitonas might be starting to get them too. Who knows?! I guess we’ll see.
Even if this turns out to be allergies, I still feel the same way about sick people going to the partys. I just don’t understand this and I don’t think that I ever will.
Anyway…. it is gorgeous out here today. No wind, sunny, and temperature is in low 80s. Perfect if you ask me!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Hanging in there
I’m still here. Haven’t really been in the mood to write anything lately. This is also our third weekend that we are spending home. Actually that I am spending home, nubby and kids did get out today.
Two weekends ago Kapitonas came down with some cold virus. Was coughing a lot and wasn’t feeling good for almost a week. Then when he was started feeling better, I though wow nobody else is going to get what he had. Well guess what?! I spoke to soon! As we were getting ready to go out for a little last Saturday, Princess started coughing and when I felt her she was warm. Took her temperature and sure enough, she had fever. So we spend a second weekend staying home.
By middle of this week she was doing better, but still had that cough. Actually both kids still have it. Nut I thought no big deal, everybody is coughing everywhere we go. So we were making some plans to go out this weekend.
Wednesday night I felt like I was coming down with something. Went to bed early, thinking that might help. Wrong! Woke up Thursday morning with a soar throat and a stuffy nose. Blah!! So I’ve been pretty much out on Thursday, Friday and today-Saturday. Today actually is the worst. My nose is so stuffy that I have a hard time breathing unless I’m sitting. Which makes it really hard to sleep. But being it Saturday and hinny home, at least I can stay in bed and rest, even if it is half ways sitting up.
Hubby took the kids out today. I think they went to the park, drove around and then McDonalds. They brought some for me too.
Anyway, just a little update on us.
A cloudy and a rainy day
Wow, it was actually cold and wet on Saturday. I think the highest it got was 71F, and that was in Los Angeles.
I woke up on Saturday morning and it was really dark and cloudy. Looked out the window, it was wet. When the weather is like that, I like staying home. But we had plans to go out. As we were getting ready to leave, these darker clouds rolled in and it started drizzling. We let the kids out before we grabbed last minute things from the house, and they were having so much fun. Too bad I didn’t take any pictures. Princess was just hilarious. The faces she was making, the hood from her sweatshirt that she was trying to put on, the way she was standing and telling me that it’s raining, it’s wet, it was just all too funny!
Then on the way to the car she had to step in to every little puddle she passed. And I’m talking about little tiny puddles, like her foot was bigger then a puddle. There was barely any water in there, but she had fun splashing. The reason I was letting her splash, because there was barely any water in there.
We were off to Los Angeles. On the way there we had some really strong rain storms. Not sure if I would call them storms as they were only lasting for about 5-10 minutes. It was more like someone was pouring water out of their bucket.
We made it to LA where they had Lithuanian Fair. You won’t believe this. This year was the first year in 15 year that we didn’t go. 1. the weather was cloudy and didn’t want to be stuck there in case it rained; 2. it’s just not the same going there without my parents. Even though we went there last year and the year before without them, we just weren’t really up for it this year. Maybe next year.
Instead we drove around my old hood, drove by my old apartment, my high school (sniff sniff), the stores where I used to go all the time. It was kind of sad.
Then we decided to stop by the LA Zoo. I know I know, in a cloudy and almost rainy weather. We are crazy. Since we have the passes we thought we’ll just walk around, see some animals and if it starts raining, leave. We saw quiet a few animals, but the best were gorillas. I’ve never seen them be so active and walk all over the place. The baby one was playing, jumping on the branches, eating them. It was really cute to see and the kids loved it.
And there are a few others:
It did start to rain after a while. Kids again had fun walking in the rain, until we had to go up one of the little hills. THey decided that they were too tired and wanted to be carried. Kapitonas loves sitting on Daddy’s sholders, and the Princess just likes to be carried. So yeah, we both were carrying them.
After the zoo we decided to go by Burbank NBC Studios and Ikea. Which I will blog about those later.
It was one of the best
The weekend went by way too fast. Actually, all the weekends go by fast. Last weekend was one of the best weekends I’ve had. Yeah, it had to do with the fact that it was my birthday, but also because we had a really good time.
So for my birthday we went out to dinner at Red’s BBQ and had a very good dinner (well, besides the fact that the kids didn’t really eat much and were wanting to get out, lol) and then hubby took me to get me a b-day gift. He got me this. I’ve been wanting one for a while now, but I knew it was just a little too much. Well before my b-day he asked me if I still wanted one (you know what was my answer:).
So when he told me that we’ll go to the mall after dinner, I knew why. Ok, so I didn’t really really knew, but I had a good feeling about it. Also, when he gave me my birthday card, I kind of knew that the gift was to come later. I know I know. So we went to the Apple store and he told me to pick the one I liked; they have them in black and white. At first I was thinking about the white one, but the black one just looked better. So I decided to go for the black one. Well what do you know, they were out of the black one and the white one. That’s ok, because there is AT&T store a couple minutes away. So we went there. I asked the guy if they had any and they only had 2 left. And they were black. Yay for me!!
After we got home, hubby and Kapitonas went to pick up an ice-cream cake they ordered for me. Yummy!! Also my friend came over. They sang me happy birthday. It was so cute seeing both of the kids singing happy birthday to me.
Even though my parents and my sister weren’t here, I did have a really great birthday!! But they were missed.
Oh, and then of course we had some drinks.
So what do you know…
Princess decided to wake up at 6:30 this morning instead of 7-7:30. I guess I shouldn’t have said anything about one of the kids waking me up in this crazy hour.
Usually, when Princess wakes up at somewhere between 7-8 (lately it’s been 7:15), Kapitonas will wake up too, because she is so loud. Then I put TV for them and snooze for a little longer. Sometimes even for an hour or so. Yeah, bad me. But they are happy. 1. because they already had their milks; 2. because they’re watching TV; and 3. because I do so much better after getting that 30-60 minutes of extra sleep.
But today I heard her calling for Dadda (don’t know why because he already was gone to work, and she usually calls for me in the mornings) I opened my eyes and thought that it’s still a little too dark outside. So I look at the time and it was 6:30. Way too early for me to get up, but even earlier for Kapitonas.
So I run to her room, pick her up and we come downstairs. And so here we are. She’s snacking on cheerios while watching tv, and well here I am. I should’ve just layed down, but computer was calling my name.
Maybe I should just go and crash for half an hour.
I. Can. Not. Believe. This.
OMG!! Seriously, the boy is going to drive me crazy a lot sooner then I thought. Geeezzzz, I already have gray hair, and I’m not even 30.
It’s about the night time sleeping. You won’t believe this! So last night I wasn’t home for the bedtime routine. I was about 30 minutes late. As I walked up to the door, I saw that it was already dark upstairs. I thought wow, can they be really asleep? Hubby knew what I did the night before, so I knew he was going to do the right thing.
I open the door and I hear little boys screaming. Oh no!! He was whining and crying that he wants his puppy back, and that he doesn’t want to go upstairs by himself (hubby already put him down the first time) that it’s too dark (he does have a night light in the room), that he wanted Daddy to cover him up, etc etc.
I gave him a hug and a kiss and walked him to his bed (since I wasn’t home originally, I thought I’ll do that). He came down one time, got a spanking and was put back in bed. So all this was last night.
He didn’t have his puppy for the night, but I had it in my bed when he came in the morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well tonight, it’s just horrible!!! Hugs, kisses, put him down, tuck him in and leave the room. Like a minute later guess who’s coming down? Yup, it was Kapitonas! So of course he lost his puppy and told me that he’ll have it in the morning in my bed. It was like he didn’t even really cared about it anymore. He knew he was going to get it eventually.
So he goes back down and another minute later he comes down, telling us that he needs to go kaka. Fine! Whatever! You better go kaka! So he takes his sweet ass time in the bathroom. I’m not kidding, about 10 minutes. And that is the same kid that is always in-and-out of the bathrooms. He says he’s still going. Fine. After he was done, Hubby walked him to his bed and came down. Before he went up I told him that if he comes down again, he won’t get the puppy in the morning. And yup, you guessed it right again, he did come down again. So now he lost his puppy for the morning.
Now I’m just hoping that he doesn’t throw a fit 5-6 o’clock in the morning wanting his puppy. But if he does, then I guess I will be up at that time. Definitely not something I want to do, but…
Anyway, I walk him back up again. So now it’s been about 10 minutes and he’s still in there. I hope he doesn’t come down.
And you know what I’m thinking? I’m thinking of getting a lock for his room and locking him in there until he falls asleep, and then unlocking and opening the door when I go to bed. It sounds cruel, it probably is, but I’m desperate here for him to go down on his own.
The whole saying “You just walk them back in there, and eventually, they will get used to and not want to come out anymore”. Well, I DON’T BELIEVE IT!!! It’s freaking been like 5-6 months already. I want to know how long did they mean by “eventually”.
Or, I guess my other option would be is just letting him stay up all night, and see what he likes better. Sleep or no sleep. (I’m j/k about this one)
Did that really work?
So you guys won’t believe this!! Kapitonas did NOT leave his bed or room last night! Woohoo!!!
Did taking his puppy the night before really helped? Did it finally clicked to him that it’s ok to fall asleep on his own? After all, he does fall asleep on his own during nap times. I just couldn’t believe it.
To tell you the truth, I was a little worried about him not coming down last night. I kept thinking what if something happened to him? Is he alright?
This has never ever ever happened in 4 years! I am very happy!
But I won’t get too excited yet. We’ll see how tonight goes.
And because he stayed in bed last night, hubby and I were able to watch 3 shows last night! Too bad it was a season finale for Big Brother. (spoiler alert!!) ………………………………………………………But I’m happy Dan won!
There it goes again
I wrote a while ago about Kapitonas not going to sleep on his own. I used to always have to lay down with him. Well after doing for 3+ years, I started getting a little tired of it. Don’t get me wrong, I love to lay down and cuddle with him. But it was getting to the point where we’d be laying there for an hour and he would still be awake. I wouldn’t mind if it would be 10-15 minutes max.
Well about 4 months ago or so, maybe even 6, I stopped laying down with him and we’ve been trying to have him fall asleep on his own. And you what?! no. such.luck.!!! Argh!!!!
Every night, he comes out of his room and starts walking downstairs like 10 times. It’s really annoying!! Hubby always walks him up and puts him down, puts a blanket on him and leaves the room. A minute later there comes Kapitonas again. And so on and so on.
Hubby is a really softy when it comes to the kids. I like that, but sometimes you just have to put your foot down and tell them no! To the kids I mean.
Well last night we put the kids down and I didn’t even get downstairs, when I heard Kapitonas walking out of his room. Oh, I was so mad! I go up and tell him to go to bed. He starts whining and asking me to put a blanket on him. I told him that he has to do it himself, because we already put a blanket on him originally, and it was his choice to get out of bed. He starts crying in the bed for his blanket. I’m sitting there and telling him that he has to do it on his own. He still doesn’t do it. So I threaten him to take his puppy away(puppy is this little blankie that looks like a puppy, that’s his favorite thing) if he doesn’t put his blanket on. And what do you know, he does!! HA! It worked! Before I left the room I told him that if he leaves his room and comes down, he will loose his puppy for the night.
“No no, I don’t want to loose my puppy!” he yells.
“Well, good, then stay in bed”.
And oh about 10 minutes later I hear the little footsteps. He is coming downstairs. Yup, I took his puppy away and sent him back to bed. Yeah, yeah, I know it was mean, but sometimes you got to do what you got to do.
He lays back down in bed and I tell him that if he comes out again, he won’t get the puppy in the morning. If he stays in bed then he can have his puppy back in the morning when he comes to my bed. (Every morning around 6 am, he comes to my bed and falls back asleep. I don’t mind him doing that, as long as he sleeps most the night in his bed and most of all falls asleep there on his own.)
I leave the room and then it was all quiet for the night.
In the morning when I woke up, he was already sleeping next to me and holding his puppy.
We’ll see how tonight goes. Wish me luck!
The trip – part 1 (8-8-08)
The whole summer we were debating about going up to WA to visit MIL (mother-in-law) and BIL (brother-in-law). We knew if we go, we would be driving. But with the gas being so ridiculously expensive, we really didn’t know what to do. We knew we wanted to go, but at the same time that trip would’ve cost us about $1000 only on gas.
If we were to fly over, only the plane tickets would be that much, plus we would have to rent the car.
Well last minute we decided just to pack up the car and drive up there. After all, we all needed that vacation. We left on Friday evening, after Kapitonas’ soccer game and dinner. We were on the road at 6:30 pm.
Drove until about 8:30-9 o’clock when we decided to stop and let the kids run for a little, change them in comfier clothes before they fall asleep. Also needed to get gas and coffee.
We pulled into this little “shopping center” (not sure what to really call the place). There was a few gas stations, several fast food places, a Denny’s and some other sit-down restaurant. But it wasn’t a little town or anything.
We pulled up to Jack in the Box. Kids ran around for a little, got some fries for them, and a Kona coffee shake for us. Got some gas at a nearby gas station and hit the road. Kids fell asleep shortly after that.
Before falling asleep Kapitonas was asking when we will get to Grandma’s house. We kept telling him that we have a looooong way to go. That he has to fall asleep and then when the sun comes up, we will still be driving, then he will take a nap or two, then we’ll drive more and then we’ll get to grandma’s house. Then he started asking to play with cars. The boy is in love with his cars and every night before he goes to bed, he has to play with cars, even if it is for a few minutes. We told him that we can’t stop anymore and that he’ll be able to play with them as much and as long as he wants once we get to grandma’s house.
It was around 1 am when we needed to stop for more gas. So we pull into this gas station at Redding, CA. In front of us there was a Carl’s. The drive-thru was packed! We noticed there were some guys standing in front of Carl’s and they started yelling at some cars in the drive-thru. They were cussing and were saying something like “get out of your car, come here”, then some girls walked up to them and one of them was saying “go baby, go kick his ass”.
I was like, oh no! Lets just get out of here as soon as we can. So we turn around and across the street at another gas station there is a cop sitting in the car and watching. Maybe he was waiting for them to start fighting or something.
We can’t make a left turn from the gas station, so we go right and drive just a little down the street to make a u-turn. We pass Denny’s that was right next to Carl’s and I see these two girls walking towards those guys wanting to fight. First thought ran through my mind: HOOKERS! Too bad I didn’t take a picture of them to show you guys. The way they were dressed, and their shoes, and the hair! OMG!! On top of that, they looked really really young. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were under 18. How sad! Anyway, we make a u-turn and get on the freeway.
It was the best surprise ever!!! I’ve never been surprised like that before and it was the best feeling.
Got to run now, but will tell you about it later.
All I’m going to say is that I love my hubby!!!
I know I know.
